Our Story

By the time the late 2000s rolled around, Clearview was exclusively run by the capable hands of Chris and his wife Jen, a highly regarded CPA and exceptionally bright UCSB grad. They’ve learned to balance their unique talents and roles quite well over the years, having raised three delightful girls along the way.

Now, with well over 20 years of delivering quality and excellence, Clearview employs nearly 30 individuals who each help support their own families. Our team is sincerely grateful to all those living in and out of the Santa Barbara community who have continually shown appreciation for our services over the years.

Feeling valued for our efforts to improve and maintain all the incredible properties we have been fortunate enough to work on is a sensation like no other, one we continue to strive for in all our work today.

Chris Hulme has been providing Goleta and Santa Barbara homeowners with renovation services as far back as the mid-80s.

Believe it or not, it all started out as a way for Chris to scrape together enough money to buy a little Honda 50cc motorcycle when he was only eight years old. Clearview has since blossomed into Santa Barbara’s premier landscaping contractor.

In the early 90’s Chris was busy casting a wide net of one-off jobs like stump removal, aluminum can recycling, gravel driveway raking, car washing, window cleaning, pressure washing, painting, and random yard work. He established a weekly landscape maintenance route with several of his neighbors – several of whom lived overseas and trusted him with the care of their properties for months at a time.

While we operate this business to support our families, we’re also obsessed with creating spaces to find yourself and spend time together. We love the outdoors and how it offers the opportunity to create moments with friends and family while celebrating moments past.

While our clients have plenty to say about our work and how we treat them, let’s take an opportunity to speak for ourselves here.

We’ve been in this business for over 20 years, we know what works. It means there’s one team who takes full ownership when things go right but also has accountability when something goes sideways. Instead of different contractors all pointing fingers when a pipe is broken, we recognize, analyze, and finalize.

Building your own personal Patagonia happens in phases, just like your home. The success of each phase of the build depends on the preceding phases. For example, the longevity and health of your plants and trees depends on how well the grading and irrigation system was designed and laid out weeks before. That’s why having one team with the big, complete picture is so critical.
